Warrior Wednesday: All That I Am

I am overwhelmed. How often do you say this? The feeling is certainly not new... not reserved to pandemics or snow storms or even to the impossibly busy, never-ending work week. In Mark 6, the disciples, who had, just that day, experienced the miracle of feeding thousands with 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish, were stretched to their limit trying to get their boat back to shore. Jesus could see them straining against the wind and water, trying to overcome on their own. But not one of them called out to Him. Perhaps they had forgotten He was near.
Don't we do this? Wrapped up in our struggles, listening to the panic of the crowd around us, forgetting the miracles He's already done in our lives, we strain against the waves. Have we forgotten His promises? Promises like "I am with you always... I will never leave you or forsake you."
The Bible tells us in 1 Peter 5:7 to "cast your cares on the Lord for He cares for you." That means all of you, by the way. He cares for ALL of you. The body, the soul, the spirit... your health, your finances, your dreams, your relationships. The good times, the bad times, the wins, and oh yes, those moments when you are overwhelmed.
If He cares for all of me, shouldn't I take all my cares to Him? After all, He is the reason I am here, still breathing, still dreaming.
When the disciples were afraid, Jesus reassured them and climbed in the boat with them, bringing peace with Him. He will do the same for us.
There's a verse that keeps repeating in my heart during these days of craziness. "Let all that I am praise the Lord." Psalm 103:1 The God who is with me is bigger than any waves I might face. If we are overwhelmed, may it be by His grace. Blessings to you all from the Red Dirt.
